The Ark is nominated in the AIB Better Ireland Programme.

The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children is delighted to be one of the short-listed groups from AIB Dame Street Branch through the Better Ireland Programme, the winners of which will be announced in March.

The Ark works with a diverse range of Irish and international artists to develop original, inspirational and playful programmes for children so that they can extend their imaginations and horizons. The Ark aspires to advocate and improve children’s rights to access cultural experiences regardless of ability, location, ethnic or socio-economic background. The funding from the Better Ireland Programme will go towards The Ark’s outreach programming.

Voting for the AIB Better Ireland Programme is now open by text or online at www.betterireland.ie

The branch will share out €10,000 between the three short listed projects with first place receiving €5,000, second place €3,000 and third place €2,000 that will be ranked in order by public votes cast over a four week period from 15 February – 15 March 2010.The local community can simply text DAME and A to 51303 (standard SMS rates apply) or vote online at www.betterireland.ie, choosing Dublin - Dame Street branch, and The Children’s Cultural Centre Limited.

The award is part of AIB’s Better Ireland Programme which supports children with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, children affected by drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness or a lack of access to mainstream education due to poverty and children suffering from terminal and chronic illnesses.
