Drama and Fairy Tale in the Classroom 24 Jan 2015

Fairy tales are full of wonderful drama, with endless possibilities to play and learn. Experienced Educational Drama practitioner Sarah FitzGibbon will lead this dynamic CPD event to generate ideas and explore approaches to delivering the drama curriculum. Using the rich potential offered by the classic fairy tale, Sarah will demonstrate how they can be used as a spring board for drama work in your classroom.

Adopting a cross curricular approach to drama, Sarah will also show how the narratives and themes within fairy tales can be used to explore the ‘the emotional and imaginative development through language’ strand within the English Curriculum.

Sarah creates a a safe, playful atmosphere so teachers of all levels of experience can feel supported to take part fully and enjoy a day of fun and creative exploration. There will be time to address any other issues you may have when delivering the drama curriculum.

Sarah is the co-author of the book Step By Step - A Cross-Curricular Use of Drama in the Classroom and is Educational Consultant to The Abbey Theatre.

This course is designed to complement and get the most out of a visit with your school to see our brand new theatre show Far Away From Me which has been written by Amy Conroy and inspired by the classic fairy tale of The Princess & The Pea. It will also work as a stand alone workshop for teachers wanting to develop their drama skills.
