Irish Traditional Dance in the Classroom 23 Jan 2014
Dancer Colin Ryan opens up the world of traditional Irish dance. All teachers, including complete beginners, are invited to explore and discover simple dance steps and to build the skills and confidence to deliver creative and enjoyable Irish traditional dance programmes in the classroom. The workshop will feature approaches to delivering dance elements of the Primary School Physical Education curriculum as well as looking at Irish traditional dance in an historical context. Please wear loose comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes.
About Colin Ryan
Award-winning dancer Colin Ryan began dancing at 7 years of age with Scoil Rince Ní Chearra O Bhaolain in Drogheda. He danced professionally with Riverdance for many years and he was also part of the cast for The Shaughraun at the Abbey Theatre. He was also featured as one of the professional dancers for RTÉ's Celebrity Jigs and Reels. Colin is a registered adjudicator for An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha and also runs his own dance school Scoil Rince Cosceol.
