Test Drive an Instrument! 24 - 25 Jun 2017

Free Entry! Have a go at playing different kinds of music on one of a range of instruments and styles at these fun drop-in sessions for beginners.

Suitable for beginners or newcomers to different music styles and instruments, each participant will enjoy a short 15 minute introduction to playing one instrument and complete a simple musical task on that instrument. Participants will get a certificate of participation at the end of the session.

There are 4 Test Drive sessions accross the weekend:

Sat 24 June @ 11am to 12.30pm - Rock with the Renaissance!
Join members of The Gregory Walkers and try out instruments that were hugely popular during the 16th & 17th century. You can hear these instruments in action during The Gregory Walkers concert Shakespeare's Music Mix in the afternoon at 2.30pm & 4.30pm.

Sat 24 June @ 2-3.30pm - Strings, Reeds, Keys & Drums
Musicians from Kylemore College give you the opportunity to try out the Cello, Double Bass, Oboe, Drums or Piano.

Sun 25 June @ 11am to 12.30pm - Give Trad a Try
Get your trad on and try out traditional Irish instruments and music with musicians from Ceoltoirí Chluain Tarbh.

Sun 25 June @ 2-3.30pm - I’m in the Band
A chance to try instruments used in popular music bands! Led by musicians from The Happy Faces who are performing Happiness Stan as part of our Discovery Trail: Music Rooms
