COVID-19 Safety at The Ark

Find out about the safety measures and protocols we have implemented to ensure you have a safe visit to The Ark.

We want audiences to feel comfortable and confident in returning to see live performances and art in-person, and to reassure you that any events at The Ark will take place within all Government guidelines. So that everyone can stay safe, we ask that you respect the following safety measures and that, if anyone in your family or group is feeling unwell or displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, you do not visit The Ark, but stay at home and self-isolate.

The main things to note are that COVID-19 Certificates will no longer be required on entry to The Ark and socially distanced seating will no longer be in place.

Face Coverings are encouraged at The Ark and will continue to be worn by our staff. We will continue to have measures in place to encourage good hygiene and to keep our audiences as safe as possible . If you have any queries or concerns on this, please contact our box office team on

COVID-19 Safety Measures at The Ark

As part of our COVID-19 protocols, we will no longer be issuing traditional paper tickets. Staff will have a list of everyone who has booked tickets and will tick people off as they arrive. For security purposes, the booker should bring a form of identification or the card used to make the booking.

All tickets (for ticketed events) must be booked in advance online at or by phone on 01 6707788. Door sales will not be available. Box office hours are Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm.

Face Coverings

While the wearing of masks or face coverings is no longer mandatory, in the interest of keeping everyone safe, all members of The Ark staff will be wearing masks inside the building. While this is not mandatory, we encourage grown-ups and children aged 9+ to wear masks or face coverings especially in when in shared spaces throughout the building if they feel comfortable doing so.

Perspex Screens
We have installed perspex screens at our box office for your safety and the safety of our team.

Hand Sanitising Stations
We have installed hand sanitising stations at convenient points throughout the building, so that you may sanitise your hands upon entry to The Ark and as needed during your visit.

Social Distancing
Social distancing is encouraged during your visit to The Ark when not seated in the theatre. Please be mindful of other people and try to keep your distance from others if queuing is required or areas are busy.

Thorough Cleaning and Ventilation
The Ark theatre will be thoroughly cleaned between all performances and at regular intervals throughout the day. Enhanced ventilation and air quality monitoring is in place throughout the building.

One-Way System
To facilitate ease of movement and avoid any congregation of people in the foyer, we ask that you follow the instructions of our staff any signage that’s in place to indicate traffic flow, entrance and exit routes and directions to your nearest available bathroom. If you are in any doubt, please ask a member of our friendly Visitor Services team for assistance.
