School Workshops: Exotic Sounds 25 - 26 Jun 2024

In this lively music and spoken word workshops, hip-hop musician Dafe Orugbo will provide 4th to 6th class children with the tools to write original music about the creatures they love in fun and inventive ways.

After a visit to The Beautiful Beasts Exhibition viewing the mighty creatures, give voice to the jungle, rhymes to the fluffy and melodies to the forest. Exotic Sounds is all about making the music we love about the animals we love.

About Dafe Orugbo

Dafe Orugbo is a multi-disciplinary artist with a dynamic practice, coupled with years of industry experience, releasing albums and touring as one half of the internationally acclaimed hip-hop duo Tebi Rex. He has developed workshop practice, delivering hip-hop, spoken word, and songwriting workshops for the Word Up Collective, Criunniú na nÓg, Youth Reach Tallaght, Grainstore Cabinteely, Music Generation, Rua Red Tallaght, Foróige, and Creative Hubs.

Curricular Links

This workshop links in with the Listening and Responding strand units of the Music curriculum. It fosters a sense of creativity and appreciation of music and sound. Through storytelling and composing, this workshop encourages an awareness and sensitivity to the inter-related elements of music and musical understanding. It also links to the Primary Language cuuriculum as children are encouraged to write their own lyrics.
