Visual Art Workshops with Duffy Mooney Sheppard (For Ages 5+)
There was an Old Woman who Swallowed a Fly
Have you heard of the old woman who swallowed a fly? And then swallowed a spider to catch the fly? Only to swallow a cat to catch the spider?....
We will investigate this unusual story and invent our own version of events. What on earth went on inside her belly full of chasing creatures? Did her unique idea solve her problem or make things much, much worse? You be the judge. Join this workshop about unconventional problem solving, outlandish storymaking and very peculiar drawing.
The Illustrated Animal & the Flood
Wilhelma the Tortoise is a wonderful sculpture that is part of The Beautiful Beasts collection. During a great flood she found herself on a large boat filled with animals, all seeking a new land to call home. Scenes from her story can be found carved into her shell. In this workshop we will look at the other animals that were with her on that journey and retell the story from their point of view. We will create large drawings filled with stories of adventure on the high seas.

Creative Writing Workshops with Luke Casserly (For Ages 7+)
Ecodoodles
Have you ever wondered what would happen if we handed the microphone over to nature to hear what it might have to say?
If so, join the Ark for this online workshop led by artist Luke Casserly designed to give a voice to our natural environment through creative writing and storytelling. Each participant will be invited to create their very own original comic book story featuring a species that interests them - an invitation to get your eye into nature and animate it using words and imagery.
Workshop activities will be fun, varied, and responsive to the group's interests. Each participant will also have an opportunity to showcase their work during the session.
This workshop can be facilitated as a one-off workshop or as a two-part session across August 2024
