Emil and the Detectives 13 - 15 Jun 2019

We are delighted to welcome the famous Slingsby back to The Ark for the third time after its successful hits: The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy and The Young King as part of Right Here Right Now! Festival of Children.

This gripping adventure is about a child’s adventure into a precarious world of untrustworthy adults, in a bid to right a wrong. A story of light and shade, and a few dark shadows! It tells the story of Emil as they head off to the big city to see relatives when something valuable is stolen. It's about the determination of Emil and a bunch of kids who rally round to solve the crime and catch the culprit.

This play is based on Erich Kästner’s 1929 novel, which was ground- breaking in its time. It is also a favourite of The Ark Children’s Council!

Emil and the Detectives is performed by two actors, immersed in smoke and mirrors, with a lovely cinematic score. Dark and light, intrigue and delight, it will captivate audiences both young and old.
