Rock, Paper, Scissors - Summer Education Programme 27 Jun - 8 Jul 2022

A series of in-person at your school or online relaxed workshops developed for children of mixed abilities, focusing on visual arts and dance. The dates and times for these workshops can vary according to availability so please call us on 01 670 7788 for details.

Relaxed Workshop Type 1: Draw Straws!

Dates & Times:
Mon 27 June – Fri 1 July

Age Range & Duration:
1st to 6th class. 75mins.

This active, accessible, online workshop will explore a range of drawing and sculpture games using pencils, paper, tape, paper straws, phones, and our own bodies. After looking at some exciting contemporary artists’ work for inspiration (including Jo Milne and Segni Mossi), participants will create both collaborative and individual artworks. Students will have an opportunity to construct sculptural forms using paper straws, before working with light and shadow to explore ways of creating interesting patterns for making beautiful photographs and drawings.

Curricular Links:
Students are encouraged to look at and respond to artworks. The workshop also focuses on drawing and construction, exploring shapes, outlines, shadows and compositions as well as 2D and 3D creations.

Relaxed Workshop Type 2: The Big Bounce!

Age Range & Duration:
1st to 6th class. 75mins.

Join dance artist Monica Munoz for this playful workshop exploring movement and the different senses! UP and DOWN, UP and DOWN, pupils will enjoy jumping and bouncing in this movement and sensory workshop, exploring textures, colours, touch, dance, music and lots of jumping!

The workshop will explore bounce in all its forms, from gentle to exuberant, carefully working and adapting to the specific requirements of all the participants.

Curricular Links:
Students are encouraged to look at and respond to artworks. This workshop also explores the dance curriculum, encouraging a range of movements, body action, dynamics and space. Creative expression and invention is encouraged in this playful relaxed work.

Sustainability

We plan, as far as possible, for each material to be re-used and reinvented across the entire summer programme, dramatically minimising our use and waste of creative materials and resources.
