Wolfwalkers: Audio-described exhibition tours 15 Jul - 25 Aug 2023
Enter the world of the Wolfwalkers, and the adventures of Mebh and Robyn, on an audio-described exhibition tour with Bríd Ní Ghruagáin for children with visual impairment or who would benefit from a sensory exhibition experience.
Exploring the colours and textures of the film through sound and touch - and with a special tactile collection created for these guided tours - we will learn about how the Wolfwalkers were created, and how they mix with the townsfolk. Find out about shape-shifting and wolf-vision and the fantastical world of the forest, as well as learning about animation techniques and voicing cartoon worlds.
After the tour, children will be invited to explore and play with textured materials in the crafting area.
On the day, the exhibition will also includes a short audio-described film about the voices behind the characters of Wolfwalkers.
Audio description refers to additional narration for blind or visually impaired patrons of visual media (television, film, theatre, dance, opera, museums and art galleries). It is a form of audio-visual translation, using the natural pauses in dialogue or between critical sound elements to insert narrative that transposes the visual image into a sense form that is accessible to millions of individuals who otherwise lack full access to these media.
