The Ark and Improvised Music Company have created a performance and artist developmental opportunity for established jazz and improvising musicians to support and encourage them to explore creating work for young audiences. Fun Size Jazz consists of 4 public shows where each show will consist of three different short work-in-progress performances by the selected artists, all tied together by our resident MC, musician and director Sam Kavanagh. The Children's Council joined the PUSH Migration Artist Lab for the day & the PUSH artists presented a programme of scratch performances and ideas to them, ensuring at all times that there was time for the children to comment and reflect on everything they had seen and experienced.

As part of our Me & The City programme, we launched a competition for children around Ireland to get sketching places or locations in their towns or cities. This is a gallery of the entries so far. The competition closes on 6 April. Find out more in our news section.

Some fantastic (but very gruesome, so don't look if you can't stomach the sight of fake blood) photos from our zombie-themed makeup and special effects workshop with the amazing Julie-Ann Ryan. We are always amazed by how much our older children love all things gross! On the opening day of the Music in Glass exhibition, our Children's Council had a guided tour from artist Róisín de Buitléar who talked about the inspiration behind the pieces and how they can be played. The exhibition formed part of the Tradfest Children's Hub 2018 in association with the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland.
