OPEN CALL: John Coolahan Early Years Artist Residency 2020/21
The Ark is delighted to invite professional artists from the fields of dance or music to apply for our 12 month Early Years Artist Residency, running from May 2020-April 2021.
Background:
This opportunity has been established in honour of John Coolahan, who sadly passed away in 2018. John was a longstanding member of The Ark board and a leading champion for arts education in Ireland.
Since 2018, this residency provides the selected artist with a yearlong opportunity to develop his/her early years arts practice in association with The Ark. Thus far the residency has been awarded to visual artist Lucy Hill (May 2018 to April 2019) and theatre artist Joanna Parkes (May 2019 to date).
The Opportunity:
This open call is for a lead artist who will become the third John Coolahan Early Years Artist in Residence from May 2020 to April 2021. This opportunity is suitable for professional artists from the fields of dance or music only with an existing early years practice who are interested in a long-term residency at The Ark.
How to Apply:
Please read the detailed application guidelines here. In this document you will find a link to the online application form. Applications will only be accepted via this online form.
Residency open information sessions will take place in The Ark on:
Wednesday 9th October 2019 at 12:30pm and 4pm
Any artist interested in applying for this opportunity is encouraged to attend either of these informal sessions to ask questions about the residency and the application process. There is no need to book – you can simply turn up. (Note: these information sessions are completely optional and there is no requirement to attend one of these sessions in order to apply. Non-attendance will in no way impact the assessment of your application.)
