Join actor, playwright and director Niamh McGrath for an active and collaborative theatre workshop based on the theme of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale. Niamh will use theatre and storytelling games to help the children in your class explore different ways of communicating; developing concentration skills and helping to build confidence. The workshop will introduce children to new ways of exploring their own imaginations, working towards the shared goal of simple group performances of their own version of Little Red Riding Hood.

About Niamh McGrath
Niamh McGrath is a professional actress, playwright, director and drama teacher. She was Artistic Director of Mayo Youth Theatre until 2012 and has run many drama workshops in schools and at Ballina Arts Centre.

This workshop explores many of the key strands of the drama, English, and Physical Education curricula, particularly in relation to: developing make-believe play into drama; role play; characterisation; maintaining focus; co-operating and communicating with others in and out of role in order to shape the drama; developing fictional relationships through interacting with the other characters as the drama text is being made; enacting for others a scene that has been made in small-group work; receptiveness to language; developing emotional and imaginative life through oral language; creating and playing games.
