This hands-on creative session will explore the craft of bookmaking, and includes practical demonstrations on the role of design, construction, typography and illustration, as well as presenting imaginative ideas to help children engage with literacy in the classroom. Artist Jole Bortoli writes and illustrates her own stories and is Director of Art to Heart, an organization that provides art courses for children and adults in educational, community and art settings.

About Jole Bortoli
Jole Bortoli is an artist with extensive experience of working with children, and with adults who work with children through the arts. Jole has led pioneering visual art workshops in The Ark and is Director of Art to Heart, an organization that provides art courses for children and adults in educational, community and art settings. In the last couple of years Jole has started to illustrate and write her own stories, which she self-publishes. Her first book Iria was launched in The Ark in April 2010. She is now working on her second book.
