Cabra Library: Creative Hubs Summer Programme 2026 7 Jun - 31 Aug 2026

As part of the Children's Art in Libraries Creative Hubs Summer Programme in Cabra Library, we have created a series of creative events that will keep all the family entertained!

Creative Hubs is a Dublin City Council Arts Office and Libraries initiative delivered by The Ark.

Drum and Dance Workshop

Date: 8 July
Ages: 5-7 years and their grown-ups at 10.30am & ages 8 - 12 years @ 12.30pm

Join Kieran and Monica, a percussionist and a dancer, for an imaginary journey across the earth with movement and music.Dancing to music from different continents, bursting with rhythm and grooves, they will encourage everyone to explore movement in a lively, fun and individual way.

All you need are bags of energy and lots of enthusiasm - don't miss out!

Comic Quest!


Date: 15 July
Ages: 5-7 years and their grown-ups at 10.30am & ages 8 - 12 years @ 12.30pm

Join animator and illustrator Kate Escolin in an exciting comics workshop where imagination knows no bounds! Join us on our quest to explore the world of comics and turn your stories into comic strips.

In this workshop, children will learn to create their own characters and explore new worlds through fun drawing activities and storytelling exercises. Whether it's drawing superheroes or magical creatures, each child will have the chance to build their own adventure.

Folk Songs from Around the World with Ríona Sally Hartman

Date: 29 July
For all the family @ 10.30am & 12pm

A lively, interactive family concert featuring a vibrant mix of original songs in Irish and English, alongside much-loved children’s folk songs from around the world in a variety of languages with Ríona Sally Hartman. From a playful Hungarian tune about poling down a river to a fun Scottish song about crows. Children will learn catchy songs, simple dances, and can join in with fun musical games and movement throughout.

Designed as an informal, welcoming solo performance, there are plenty of opportunities to sing along, dance, and participate — as much or as little as you like.

You’ll leave with plenty of musical inspiration to keep the singing going all summer long at home.

Early Years: Butterfly Doctor

Date: 12 August
Ages: 2-4 years @ 10.30am & 12pm

You've heard of Veterinarians, Dentists, Podiatrists, Surgeons … Medical doctors with specialities have special names. But, have you heard of The Lepidoctor? This is a doctor who mends and minds something very special indeed.

In this visual art and storytelling workshop little ones will make and mend beautiful paper wings.

Injured moths and butterflies come from far and wide to The Lepidoctors studio, and we really need your help. Using tools and insider tips and tricks of the trade you will discover the art of constructing handsome and delicate wings. The butterfly doctor and their insect patients will be pleased to celebrate you as an honorary, lifetime member of The Lepidoctors Club.
