Visual Arts Workshops: Creatures of Shadow Island 7 - 14 Jul 2026
Join visual artist Laura Whelan for a fun creative workshop inspired by the My Father’s Dragon exhibition and the silhouette images of Lotte Reiniger, and the drawing with scissors style of Henri Matisse.
After exploring the My Father’s Dragon exhibition, Laura will demonstrate different ways of creating silhouette characters and colourful backgrounds, and then you will explore these techniques to create their own unique silhouette characters and backgrounds.
Everyone will start by making a storyboard, where they will discuss the themes they would like in their stories, what characters could become good friends and help each other as they embark on a big adventure.
The workshop will end with a group story, that will include all the wonderful characters they have created.
