The Ark will be celebrating Culture Night 2013 with textile printing in the Workshop, theatrical storytelling in the Longroom and with an outdoor family-friendly concert featuring the RTÉ Concert Orchestra on The Ark's stage at Meeting House Square.
Note that tickets to the printmaking and theatrical storytelling sessions will be allocated from 4.30pm on the day. No booking is required for the Meeting House Square concert but timely arrival is advised as places are limited.
Textile printing in the Workshop: Make your mark at The Ark!
Printing sessions @ 5pm, 5.30pm, 6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm & 7.30pm, 8pm
Work with artists from PRINT BLOCK to help create a large-scale, animal themed, piece of textile art. Various printing methods such as block printing and stencil printing will be available to try. The final piece of textile art will then be exhibited in The Ark for the duration of the upcoming Bless the Beasts exhibition so the children will be able to come back to view the work they helped to make! Children will also be given the option of making a printed card badge (of the Ark Unicorn) that they can take home.

Theatrical Storytelling in the Longroom

Join actor Bob Kelly (some of you may recognize him from our recent Roll Up! Roll Up! exhibition) for theatrical storytelling for all the family in the Longroom.

Culture Night in Concert on The Ark's Stage on Meeting House Square

To celebrate Culture Night, Arena, RTÉ Radio 1 will present a three-hour family-friendly extravaganza concert in conjunction with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, live from the heart of the action in Temple Bar. The concert will open with a specially commissioned ‘Fanfare for Culture’ by Stephen Gardner.
The Culture Night Fanfare has been Commissioned on behalf of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht as part of Culture Night 2013. The live concert is brought to you by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht , Temple Bar Cultural Trust & Dublin City Council in partnership with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Arena and supported by The Ark.
