make|shape: collaborations in clay 9 Sep - 18 Oct 2014

Presented in partnership with the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s primary schools CRAFTed programme. make|shape leads you playfully through techniques, processes and explorations of clay.

The exhibition celebrates the work of eight ceramic artists who have worked on the DCCoI’s primary schools CRAFTed programme. CRAFTed gives artists, children and teachers the opportunity to share skills and ideas, working together to develop new projects. make|shape explores how these collaborative projects with children influence artists’ ways of making and working creatively with children.

How does an artist gather ideas? make|shape brings you on an journey through artists’ creative processes, from research, design and materials to experimentation. We invite you to join our investigation of clay, from rolling and shaping, marking and making to glazing and firing. Then roll up your sleeves and get making in our response stations!

The family event of the Dublin Craft Trail for the International Academy of Ceramics General Assembly 2014.

About CRAFTed

CRAFTed brings together professional craft makers, children and teachers to investigate craft within the classroom, exploring creativity and learning new skills.
