With Aodán Coyne on guitar and vocals and the accomplished Hayes brothers, Shane Hayes on accordion and Fiachra Hayes on fiddle & banjo, this youthful trio blend Irish traditional melodies with their own personal flair which has gained them critical acclaim and accolades including ‘New Band of the Year’ by the Irish Music Association. Attending this performance with your class will have relevance to the Listening and Responding strand units in the music curriculum, supporting children to respond to Irish music in particular. The performance will introduce your class with the style of Irish traditional music enabling them to also become familiar with and be able to identify indigenous Irish instruments. The performance will also exemplify the particular skill of traditional Irish musicians for learning and performing music from memory.
