Trad Gigs for Children: Socks in the Frying Pan 26 - 27 Jan 2018

A gig for children of all ages from this multi-award winning trio from Co Clare, the universal hub of Irish traditional music. Part of the TradFest Children's Hub 2018

Their dynamic vocal harmonies, virtuosic musical ability and their onstage wit has captured and captivated audiences the world over, from large music festivals and venues all the way to pre-schools and primary schools.

With Aodán Coyne on guitar and vocals and the accomplished Hayes brothers, Shane Hayes on accordion and Fiachra Hayes on fiddle & banjo, this youthful trio blend Irish traditional melodies with their own personal flair which has gained them critical acclaim and accolades including ‘New Band of the Year’ by the Irish Music Association. Loved for their modern traditional style and energetic approach to music which compliments the traditional essence in their shows and makes for a truly unique form of entertainment.

Curricular links for schools...

Attending this performance with your class will have relevance to the Listening and Responding strand units in the music curriculum, supporting children to respond to Irish music in particular. The performance will introduce your class with the style of Irish traditional music enabling them to also become familiar with and be able to identify indigenous Irish instruments. The performance will also exemplify the particular skill of traditional Irish musicians for learning and performing music from memory.
