Nico and Martin: Out of the Door of The Ark 25 Oct 2014

Join Ark favourites Nico Brown and Martin Brunsden for a gig full of songs, imaginative sound play, unusual instruments and a little bit of joyful chaos!

The Ark is delighted to be re-launching Out of the Door of The Ark, an album of songs by Nico Brown and Martin Brunsden. Many of these songs were written during Nico’s five years as musician in residence at The Ark back when we first opened. These songs and stories come from many years of playing with children and families, who like music as an activity they can join in with, as well as a performance.

To celebrate the CD launch Nico and Martin are coming home to The Ark to perform all their classics. Hear the sounds of the double bass, singing saw, harp, accordion, thumb pianos, mandolin, concertina, swanee whistle, guitar and other strange instruments you might have never even seen before. Go on a Jungle Journey where you get to help make all the sounds of this trip through wild Africa, learn the very important Five Pirate Rules of the special sea shanty Aye Aye Captain, hear how loud daddy animals can be and how quiet baby animals can be and laugh about how confusing words in different languages can be in a song about a French friend.

This thoroughly enjoyable music performance with a gentle energy celebrates Nico and Martin’s many years of creative music experience. Have a listen to a few of the songs from the album that will feature in the show:

Don’t forget to buy your CD before or after the performances. Available in hard copy or online!
