Schools: Relaxed Workshop: Felted Nature Scenes 6 - 7 Mar 2025

In this relaxed hands-on workshop, artist Gabi Mc Grath will introduce children to the multi-sensory process of felting.

After exploring the Puffin Rock exhibition, in this is a hands-on workshop you will look at lots of different materials, different textures and how look at how they can be used together to create artwork. You will use felting to make your own 3D nature scene. In this workshop, you will explore the expressive possibilities of fleece to create your own unique creations.

This workshop has been designed for children with additional sensory needs or access requirements who would benefit from a more supported, relaxed experience.

Pupils are encouraged to look at and respond to the Puffin Rock Habitats exhibition and its themes. This is a hands-on tactile workshop which focuses on a number of elements within the fabric and fibre strand of the curriculum. It will give children the opportunity to explore textile as a media for imaginative expression and construction while discovering different textures and how they can be manipulated and used together to create artwork.
