Songs from the African Forest
Junior Infants - 6th Class
With singer and musician Su Hart
Tuesday 21st February - Friday 24th February 10am & 12pm
This really special workshop will introduce children to the amazing tradition of singing from the Baka people of Central Africa. The workshop is led by Su Hart, a professional singer and musician based in England who has been visiting and singing with the Baka since 1992 and has an exceptional passion and knowledge of their music. For thousands of years, the Baka have lived deep in the African forests and song permeates their lives from the moment they are born. Through singing the songs of the Baka and learning about their way of life, children will develop their ability to listen, work together creatively, gain an appreciation of diverse cultures and a new awareness of their environment.
“Singing together makes magic happen, it brings confidence, comradeship, fun, listening and empathy. It is a joyous harmonious expression of us together!” Su Hart
