Science Week Inspiration Pack for Schools:  Caring for our Earth 8 - 14 Nov 2021

Available to download for free. The Ark and the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) are proud to present an exciting new free resource for teachers in celebration of Science Week 2021. Suitable for all pupils from Junior Infants to 6th Class.

Created by members of the PDST STEM team along with long-standing Ark collaborator Dr. Niamh Shaw, who is both a scientist and a theatre artist, this new activity pack is bursting with fresh science and drama inspiration for teachers to use in the classroom.

Designed for teachers, the ‘Caring for Our Earth’ inspiration pack includes activities, prompts and suggestions designed to bring science to life for pupils alongside a range of integrated creative outputs for pupils through drama and other creative responses.

The material provided connects to the primary school Science curriculum and promotes key skills development through the strands of Living Things; Energy and Forces; Environmental Awareness and Care and more. There is a particular focus on supporting teachers with developing Designing and Making Skills in the classroom, while the creative components promote ample integration between Science and the arts curricula particularly Drama.

In our first collaboration of this kind between The Ark and PDST, together we hope this material will support and inspire teachers to engage with science in new and creative ways during Science Week 2021 - and beyond.
