Still Loading… 23 Jun 2018
The Ark Children’s Council present a mini-festival of new performances-in-progress for children. Part of Dublin City Council’s Cruinniú na nÓg.
We have called our festival Still Loading… because the short performances you will see aren’t completely finished. These are all “works-in-progress” and we and the artists who are making the shows want to know what you think about them!
We really like all the pieces because they are unusual, enjoyable, funny and different. There are stories of love and perseverance, childhood, migration and more! We hope you enjoy them!
We are The Ark Children’s Council, and we helped organise this event. We are a group of 30 children aged 9-11 who come to the Ark about once a month. We do workshops in art, music, film and drama and we go to many Ark events. We give a lot of feedback to The Ark and we meet a lot of artists. We help The Ark to make decisions about the work they do.

Boy In The Boat
A work for young audiences exploring the theme of migration. The piece is a magical journey about a boy lost at sea, searching for a home. On his journey, he encounters a number of characters (ie a greedy seagull, fearful jellyfish, and a wise turtle) and we examine the theme of the acceptance of ‘other’. Within the piece there is a dual narrative of the boy, and the lighthouse keeper Lila who watches from the mainland and narrates his story.
Idea conceived by: Fionnuala Gygax. Text devised by full team.
Performers: Fionnuala Gygax and Fionn Foley.
Sound: Fionn Foley.
