Teachers CPD: Creative Dance in the Classroom Made Easy 16 Nov 2019

This enjoyable course for Primary School educators aims to deepen and expand the understanding of Dance within the P.E. curriculum with an emphasis on creativity.

In a relaxed and playful atmosphere teachers will be provided with the necessary tools to deliver dance activity with confidence for all ages and classes. The course will demystify dance for teachers and focus on the exploration, creation and performance of dance through easy exercises and manageable approaches.

Working within an integrative approach the course will explore how dance can also support learning across the curriculum in relation to SPHE, English and other subjects.

Suitable for all levels of confidence. No experience necessary.

About Emma O’Kane

Emma O'Kane is a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher and dance educator. She has extensive experience of working with adults and children within a dance and creative setting. Emma created A Life of Play, an inter-generational dance project based around play commissioned by Bealtaine in association with Dublin Dance Festival and a CoisCéim Broadreach project. She has been performing and choreographing in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) since 2015. Emma is the recipient of a Young People Children and Education (YPCE) Bursary Award from the Arts Council. For this bursary award she researched the dance curriculum within a school setting. In addition to this Emma has an education focussed MA in Dance from University of Limerick.
