The Art of Fantastical Flavours Workshop 10 - 11 Apr 2015

Discover some of the most bizarre recipes ever invented and how they've been inspired by stories, artworks, tastes, places...Then write and design your own! For ages 8-12.

Stephen Brandes is an artist who makes things that are both strange and funny. He makes drawings, paintings and collage, but also works with food, to make weird and wonderful recipes that are also a little frightening…

In this workshop and before your very eyes, he will make “The Snow Witch’s Black Seaweed Cakes”, inspired by an old Japanese folk-story. He will show you some of the craziest recipes ever to have been invented…

And you? You will exercise your imaginations to create your own strange and fantastic recipes (to test out at home) which you will illustrate using drawing and collage. You might even learn the magical art of tattooing bananas…

This workshop will involve the optional tasting of 'The Snow Witch’s Black Seaweed Cake'. For your information this workshop involves your child having the option of tasting food containing the following ingredients: black sesame seeds, wheat flour, egg and sugar. If you need to let us know that your child cannot eat this, please contact The Ark at boxoffice@ark.ie
