Tickets on sale 13 December to schools

It’s all about the harp at this energetic music performance created by The Ark. An Irish harp duo led by renowned harper Laoise Kelly (who has played with The Chieftains, Sharon Shannon, Dónal Lunny, Mary Black and Kate Bush), and outstanding bodhrán player Robbie Walsh, will introduce the dizzying melodies and lively rhythms of Ireland’s national instrument. The performance will include music by Turlough O’Carolan, Ireland’s most famous harper and composer, to mark his 275th anniversary in 2013. Violinist Vladimir Jablokov (Slovak Festival Orchestra) will join the stage to recreate in music the famous tale told of a musical duel between O’Carolan and a European violin player living in Ireland at the time.
