Voyages Exhibition has docked at DCU as part of The Ark’s YPCE Residency

Voyages, our recent Summer exhibition, has set sail from The Ark and is on display in Dublin City University on St. Patricks Campus.

As part of the YPCE Artist-In-Residence scheme, The Ark Children’s Cultural Centre has been selected to deliver specific opportunities and bespoke programmes for DCU students studying education throughout the current academic year.

Voyages is a unique exhibition curated by children, for children. To celebrate The Ark’s 30th birthday, twelve young people aged 10 to 17 years, representing current members of the Ark’s Children’s Council and alumni from seven previous councils, took part in seven creative workshops to explore The Ark’s visual art collection, learn about curation, and shape the final exhibition, led by artist and collaborator Róisín White. Voyages features hand-picked ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, screenprint and mixed media sculptures that were commissioned, purchased by, or donated to The Ark over the last three decades.

During it’s time at Dublin City University, student teachers will be encouraged to engage with the exhibition and explore the thinking behind child co-creation, child participation and child voice.

This is the first instalment of The Ark’s Autumn season of activity at Dublin City University as part of our YPCE Residency and it is a celebration of imagination, curiosity, and what happens when young minds take the wheel.

The Ark were selected as Young People, Children, and Education (YPCE) Artists in Residence for the academic year 2024/'25, funded by The Arts Council.
