Flies was developed through a collaborative process with alumni of The Ark’s Children’s Council. Now as teenagers, these alumni reunited to work with playwright & The Ark Engagement and Participation Artist Shaun Dunne, to explore the work of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies.
Since 2021, The Ark has been supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht to deliver arts and cultural activities to children around the country via their local Broadband Connection Points. We reached over 315 children across Ireland this year with our BCP programme - from Glensmole to Inishbofin!

It's delivery week for our Ark Art in Schools participants! ‘The Art Runway’ and 'All Kinds of Everything" include carefully selected artworks from The Ark’s visual arts collection and this week, 10 schools were given a new piece of art from the collection to display for the next month.
The Ark is delighted to announce our Transition Year Work Experience Programme 2026 which will take place Monday 2 March- Friday 6 March 2026.
Dublin City Council’s Creative Hubs Programme, an initiative of Dublin City Arts Office and Libraries, co-ordinated by The Ark, invites proposals from experienced producing companies – organisations, venues or festivals - to work with DCC in partnership to produce and present new theatre or dance performance work for children (2 to 12 yrs) in Dublin City’s Creative Hub Libraries during 2026.
