Puppetry Workshop by Branar with The Children's Council (and our Board members)!

What do you get when you mix puppets, our Children's Council, Board members and a splash of creativity? A morning of fun and inspiration provided by Branar theatre, who will be at The Ark all month with their show How To Catch A Star!

On Saturday 29 Nov, puppeteers Neasa Ní Chuanaigh and Cillian O Donnachadha from Branar, facilitated a puppet making workshop with our Children's Council! They were also joined by our Board members Catherine Cotter, Annie Ó Breachain, Lucy Fallon Byrne and Emer Egan.

The morning started with some warm-ups and games facilitated by our Engagement and Participation Artist Shaun Dunne, to help everyone get into the mind of a puppet/puppeteer before the magic really began as each group were tasked with creating their very own puppet. These very special puppets were made entirely out of paper and masking tape, so everyone's imagination and creativity were put to the test to step into a new way of thinking and embrace the world of puppetry.

We were delighted to have Board members join in on the fun as it gives our Council the opportunity to meet grown-ups involved in the Governance and organisational side of The Ark in a creative and relaxed setting.

The Children's Council will soon get to see How To Catch A Star at The Ark! Based on the beloved book by Oliver Jeffers, this adaptation of How to Catch a Star from Branar combines puppetry by Neasa Ní Chuanaigh and Cillian O Donnachadha with stunning puppets by Suse Reibisch, a magical original score by Colm Mac Con Iomaire and direction by Marc Mac Lochlainn.
