Callout to Children - Have your say on the creation of a new artwork!

The Ark invites children aged 8 – 12 years to take part in a very special project to advice on the creation of a new artwork for the new Children’s Hospital.

We especially welcome children who have spent time in hospital. This project is kindly funded by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.

As this new artwork will be for children, we would like you to be involved in the development of the artwork. You would participate in a free series of 3 visual art workshops on Saturdays at The Ark:

  • April 11th: 10am to 12.30pm
  • April 18th: 10am to 12.30pm
  • April 25th: 10am to 12.30pm

During these workshops, you will explore public artworks and the creation of artworks specifically for children with visual artist/facilitator Róisín White and visual artist/sculptor Helen O’Connell. This artwork will be inspired by the European Child Guarantee, which aims to improve the lives of children in poverty across Europe. Together we will explore how different countries are working to make life better for children in need.

You will share ideas and inspiration for the creation of a new sculpture by Helen O’Connell. You will get to learn about working as an artist, play games and make new friends.

This workshop series is free but there are limited places, please contact Aisling: creativehubs@ark.ie and share the child’s name, age and any relevant information about why they would like to participate in this project (150 words max) before April 3rd.

This artist commission and workshop series is kindly funded by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.
