The Ark welcomes Carol Fawsitt as new board chair

As we welcome Carol Fawsitt as our new chair of The Ark board, we also bid a fond farewell and our sincerest gratitude to our former chair, Brian Lavery, and former board member Gerry Smyth, who stood down from their roles with us yesterday evening.

Last night, Thursday 17 June, The Ark was delighted to welcome Carol Fawsitt as our new board chair. Carol is solicitor and expert in employment law and has sat on The Ark board since February 2017.

Carol takes over from Brian Lavery, who has been in the role of chair for the past three years. Brian's contribution to The Ark has been invaluable since his appointment to our board in 2012 and he will be greatly missed.

Also stepping down from his longstanding place on our board is Gerry Smyth. From all of the team at The Ark, we would like to say a most since thank you to Gerry for all of his work over the past nine years.

As we say a fond farewell to Brian and Gerry, we also recently welcomed two new board members - children's author Shane Hegarty and DCU Professor in Drama Education, Annie Ó Breacháin - and look forward to working with them into the future. All of our board members give their times and expertise to The Ark on a voluntary basis and we are incredibly grateful for their contribution.
