The Ark’s Transition Year Work Experience Programme 2024

The Ark is delighted to announce our Transition Year Work Experience Programme 2024 which will take place from Monday 19 February to Friday 23 February

This week-long programme promises to be an exciting week of activity for students with an interest in working in the arts sector and, in particular, working with children aged 2-12.

Participants will get an opportunity to experience many areas of the arts industry, from internal arts administration, artistic programming for music, visual arts, theatre and film, archiving, child participation processes, front of house/box office work and community engagement.

This is a hybrid programme with students participating mainly in-person at The Ark, plus some self-directed research at home during the 5 days of the Work Experience Programme.

Participants must be available for Work Experience during the week outlined above. Unfortunately, no alternatives are available.

Application Process:

All applicants are required to provide the following information by email to engagement@ark.ie:

  • A brief letter (maximum one A4 page) outlining why you would like to participate in The Ark’s Transition Year Work Experience Programme.
  • Basic Curriculum Vitae (this is a list of your experiences and personally traits that may make you suitable for this opportunity) (maximum one A4 page)
  • Students should include their school’s name and address as part of their application.

All applications must be received by Friday 3rd of November.

Applicants will receive notice of the outcome by Thursday 16th of November.

There are a total of 8 places for The Ark’s Work Experience Programme 2024. Applicants will be selected based on the information they provide. Half of the placements will be allocated to students from DEIS schools. Please note that candidates may be shortlisted and may also be asked to attend a brief interview.

The Ark will cover transport cost by providing a prepaid Leap Card. The Ark will provide devices on loan to any student who requires one.

We would like to remind you that, unfortunately, every year The Ark receives many more applications than places available.

In line with The Ark’s Diversity and Inclusion Policy, we actively seek to ensure equality in terms of access and engagement across gender, ethnicity, age, orientation, membership of the Traveller Community, socio-economic status, family or civil status, disability, or religion.
