Use Your Voice - The Electoral Commission Visits The Children's Council
"Vote, don't let others speak for you", is the tagline of the electoral commission and we couldn't agree more.

We were delighted to welcome Ryan and Sarah from the Electoral Commission to meet the Children's Council and chat about democracy, voting and the importance of using your voice.
This year is a very important year as the Children's Council turns 10. As you can imagine, we have lots of celebrations to plan. So, what better way to plan the Council's 10th birthday party than to hold a democratic vote. We split up into 'parties' and came up with ideas for the celebrations, then ballot papers were made and we all officially voted on which party we preferred.
Throughout the process we learned about transfer voting, the importance of being informed and the real reason pencils are used to vote instead of pens! We also had insightful discussions about the voting age.
For now, we will keep our party planning ideas under wraps but we would like to extend a huge thank you to Ryan and Sarah for visiting us!
