Do you know any budding young designers or entrepreneurs? We have the perfect programme to introduce children to the process of design, illustrating how designers take an idea and then make it a reality!
The Ark have challenged five Irish designers to create new products for children, taking inspiration from iconic children’s toys, furniture and textiles.The Design It exhibition recreates each designer’s individual studio giving us a glimpse at their working practices, using their sketches, photographs and working prototypes, to reveal how they get from an initial idea to the final product.
After you explore the exhibition, we invite you to relax and enjoy the specially designed children’s area on our long room floor, with areas for reading, playing and drawing your own designs. This space is filled with a selection of Irish designed toys and children’s products for you to play and interact with.

Taking inspiration from the process and designs featured in the Design It exhibition, we have a programme of workshops and events for ages 2+.
Sat 7 & 14 Nov: Design It: A Room of your Own Workshop for Ages 5-7.
Sat 7 & 14 Nov: Design It & Construct It Workshop for Ages 8-12.
Sat 21 Nov: Print It: Fabric Design Workshop for Ages 5-7 & 8-12
Sun 22 Nov: Print It: Silk Screen Sessions for Ages 4+
Tue 1 & 8 Dec & Sat 9 & 16 Jan: Who Lives Here? Creating Dens and Nests for Ages 2-4
Schools Events
The Design It programme for schools runs Tuesdays-Fridays from 10 - 20 Nov. Your class will have a guided tour of the exhibition followed by a hands-on creative workshop. Find out more
VIEW: Temple Bar Arts & Politics Weekend
The Ark is delighted that the Design It events of Sat 21 & Sun 22 November are part of VIEW which is a weekend showcasing the arts and cultural organisations that are based here in Temple Bar. Full details of all the events happening in VIEW will be announced in mid September.
