The Children's Council celebrate their rights for World Children's Day

See what children's rights mean to children themselves with this selection of illustrated short verses written by members of our Children's Council.

November 20th each year is World Children's Day, a day for children, by children, all over the world to help save children's lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential. This year, we asked our Children's Council to express what their rights mean to them through short verses.

Over a series of Zoom sessions with our Artist in Residence, Shaun Dunne, and Engagement Coordinator, Liam McCarthy, the children explored how they felt about their rights, discussed which rights they felt were most important to them personally, and worked together to write their own short poems to reflect this.

Check out a selection of these verses below, illustrated by Duffy Mooney-Sheppard.

Since 1995, we have been making and sharing great art for, by and about children. Now, please join us in celebrating our 25th birthday by supporting our #ARK25 Opportunities Fund to help us reach even more children from all backgrounds and ensure every child's right to art & culture.

The Ark's 25th birthday season is sponsored by BDO.
