A brand new Classroom Activity Pack to accompany The Ark's upcoming production of The Haircut! is now available to download!
The Ark is delighted to announce the release of The Haircut! Classroom Activity Pack, a complementary resource for teachers attending with their class at a performance of The Ark’s new production of The Haircut! by Wayne Jordan and Tom Lane.
Created by Joanna Parkes and Anita Mahon – renowned specialist facilitators for educational drama and music programmes - the pack uses the show’s rich themes and ideas as a starting point for a range of engaging classroom activities and is a useful resource to teachers, whether or not they have seen the performance.
Based on the much-loved myth of Labhraidh Loingseach and set in a magical modern day Ireland, The Haircut! is a cautionary tale with a live musical soundtrack. Commissioned by The Ark, the show is suitable for children aged 8+ in 3rd to 6th class, and will make its world premiere as part of The Ark's Theatre for Children Programme at Dublin Theatre Festival 2019.

In addition to providing quality cultural experiences for junior infants to sixth class, The Ark aims to facilitate in-the-classroom learning through the provision of resource packs for a number of The Ark's programmes each year. This supports teachers to extend and deepen the rich learning opportunities for children that a visit to The Ark with their class can offer. A full range of classroom activity packs covering a range of curricular areas can be accessed here.
Classroom activity packs are just one of a range of benefits to membership of ArkEd, a free scheme for teachers, principals and parents homeschooling their children. Find out more and sign up to ArkEd here.
The Ark works closely with the Teacher Education Section of the Department of Education and Skills through the year in our work with and for teachers and schools.
